Wistman's Wood is a small upland oakwood in the valley of the West Dart River.

The wood is surrounded by granite tors and moorland and the NNR is important for the mosses and lichens that festoon the trees and granite boulders found on the site.
The best times to visit are in mid-April to August for moorland birds, and all-year for lichens and mosses.
Visitors should ensure they have adequate footwear and clothing. Wistman's Wood is an upland site subject to rapid weather changes.
Wistman's Wood is near the centre of Dartmoor National Park. The site is 2 km north of the Two Bridges Hotel, at the junction of the B3357 and B3212.
