Sutton Park NNR was a mediaeval deer park given to Sutton Coldfield by Henry VIII in 1528.

Although most NNRs are managed by Natural England, 88 are wholly or partly managed by other bodies approved by Council, under Section 35 of the Wildlife and Countryside Act 1981.

Sutton Park NNR is owned and managed by the Birmingham City Councilexternal link.

Location and access

The reserve is situated a short distance from Sutton Coldfield town centre, in North Birmingham. There are car parks at each of the seven main entrances. The reserve can be reached by bus from Birmingham town centre, and by trains to Sutton Coldfield station.

Sutton Park is open daily from 10am, closing in summer at 7pm, in winter at 4.30pm.

Facilities

There is a visitor centre. Toilets and refreshment facilities are located at various points around the reserve.
