Roydon Common NNR is owned and managed by the Norfolk Wildlife Trust.

The NNR is largest remaining area of heathland and valley mire in the county and comprises a mixture of dry and wet heath, valley mire, rough pasture and woodland habitats. View an information sheet describing this reserve pdf document.

The best times to visit the reserve are in the summer, for birds and plants, and in August and September when the heather is in flower.

Location and access

The reserve is west of, and almost immediately adjacent to, the village of Roydon, two km east of the village of Grimston.

By car, access to the reserve is via minor roads from the A148 and B1145. There is a car park in the reserve accessed via the minor road from Roydon to the A148.

The nearest train station is in King's Lynn, 10 km to the west.

Bus services from King's Lynn to Roydon and Grimston are provided by Norfolk Green.

The reserve is near Route one of the Sustrans National Cycle Network.

Facilities

The nearest toilets and refreshment facilities are in local villages.

The area around the reserve car park allows limited wheelchair access.

There is a 1.5 km nature trail through the reserve and leaflets, information panels and signs are provided for visitor information.
