Castle Eden Dene: want to get involved?

There are opportunities for getting more involved on the reserve

The reserve has its own education programme offering a huge range of classes, covering woodland life, carried out at Oakerside Dene Lodge.

Contact Steve Metcalfe, the Education Officer on 0191 5860004 for details.

See also our section on information for students and teachers. We provide information on places that schools can visit, resources for lessons, and contacts for other relevant information.

Volunteering

You can also become a Volunteer at Castle Eden Dene, and help to patrol the 12 miles (20km) of footpaths. Every Wednesday a group carries out practical tasks such as scrub clearance and fencing. The Dene Team, a group for young people aged from about 8 – 15, interested in conservation and the environment meets every month.

Contact Joe Davies, the Community Liaison Officer on 0191 518 2403 or 0191 5860004 for full details.
