Dorset Heaths NNR
Join the race to meet 2,012 wild and wonderful species. If it crawls, walks, squawks, tweets, flutters or swims then we’ll be looking for it at Sandford National Nature Reserve’s Meet the Species event. Join Natural England, the Urban Heaths Partnership and Sandford Heritage Project for pond dipping, bug hunting, bird watching, flower...erm...spotting and lots more besides. There’ll be lots of activities for all ages with Bronze, Silver and Gold awards depending on how many species you can find. And don’t worry there’ll be wildlife experts on hand to help identify what we find so encyclopaedic knowledge of wildlife not required.
Special requirements: All children must be accompanied by an adult. Please dress appropriately for the weather. There may be low lying gorse and brambles so suitable footwear and long trousers are advisable.
