The Lizard NNR is in Cornwall.
We encourage the use of sustainable transport whenever possible
The nearest train station is in Falmouth
, approximately 25 km from the tip of the peninsula (Lizard Point).
Wessex Trains provides a bus link from Redruth
station (on the mainline route to Penzance) to Helston - 15 km from Lizard Point.
Information on local bus services is available from the Cornwall County Council.
The Lizard peninsula is accessed via the A3083 (from the A394) and the B3293.
The South West Coastal Path
continues around the perimeter of the whole peninsula giving excellent access to parts of the NNR.
Goonhilly has a 1km level surfaced path, with interpretation which is suitable for wheelchairs. There is also a short (40 minutes) and long (2.5 hour) self-guided trail, and access to a large network of paths and bridleways.
Please ensure you remove any dog mess when using the surfaced trails. Remember, these paths are used by the less able and children
Please stay away from coastal cliff edges
All the car parks are excellent places to start exploring, with links to footpaths and bridleways. It is a good idea to check the tide times
for the coastal sites as some beaches are covered at high tide.
Much of the coastline of The Lizard peninsula can be accessed on foot via the South West Coastal Path
.
The Cornwall Wildlife Trust
runs over 50 nature reserves in the county including several close to the Lizard.
The National Trust
also has several coastal sites which complement the NNR.
There is a wide range of accommodation in the area from campsites to self-catering accommodation and hostelries. For more details contact the Cornwall Tourist Board.
