Natural England - In focus for photographic adventure

In focus for photographic adventure

17 August 2010

A group of 16 intrepid explorers got into focus and took part in a photographic adventure tour in a picturesque Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (ANOB) in Suffolk.

The adventure walk took place last week on the Suffolk Coast National Nature Reserve (NNR) at Walberswick. Organised by Natural England and led by Malcolm Farrow, from the Suffolk Coasts and Heaths AONB, adventurers on the day took advantage of a brief spell of sunny weather to photograph insects, flowering heather and the wide open landscape of the reed bed.

Natural England’s Community Outreach Adviser Carrie Bewick said: “Malcolm shared his top tips on how to set-up and snap the best shots. He also explained which wildlife to look out for during the different seasons. Among the wildlife spotted on this adventure were some migrant hawker dragonflies, who posed beautifully for the group on the gorse.

“A wide range of cameras were used and people with varying experience and interests came along on the day. We hope a thoroughly enjoyable and informative morning was had by all our intrepid explorers.”

Malcolm added: “Photography is a great way to enjoy the countryside and the Suffolk Coast is a wonderful place for photography. Put the two together and you have a winning combination, providing you know how to make the most of your camera and the landscape and wildlife around you –and learning how to do that was just what our event was all about!”
